💀 Character Information

Name: Michael

Canon: Dominion

Canon Point: The end of season 2

Age: Biblical--but looks mid thirties

Description:

Played by Tom Wisdom, Michael is 6'2, with dark brown hair and blue eyes. He has a pair of gray/black wings, and a wingspan twice his height. These wings can fold entirely away, out of sight, but do not damage the fabric of whatever clothing he's wearing at the time - i.e. he doesn't need wing holes cut into things.

Physical changes: None

Powers:

Unlike certain other angels one might mention, Michael doesn't possess a wealth of supernatural abilities. He is immortal, and largely invulnerable, except to Empyrean steel, or having a cave dropped his head w/e. In any case, these powers don't really apply in Hell.

Michael relies on his wings to a certain extent. He uses them for flight, naturally, but they also protect him, and can be used to deflect bullets, protect from fire, and can be used as wicked weapons themselves. They are as sharp as diamond edged razor blades, and can be used to throw people physically as well.

Feathers from an angel's wings can be used to heal injuries, by burning them and rubbing the ash in the wound, although it's not something they practice often.

Angels also possess superhuman strength. Their speed and dexterity are also superhuman, as well as their senses--sight, smell, hearing etc being greater than that of a human. Their fighting abilities, of course, are all reliant on long campaigns as warriors for Heaven. Archangel twins can communicate telepathically with each other, and have such a strong bond that if one is hurt badly the other can feel it.

Archangels can also possess lower angels, and see through their eyes. It's not something Michael practices, since it's considered to be inhumane.

So yes. Superstrength, wings, and that's pretty much it.

History: Link

Hell Status: Heaven Transfer

What Brings Them To Hell:

At the end of season 2, Michael has just discovered that his older brother, Lucifer, has risen once again. That's not really that great for anyone, and so, having died inexplicably and in a way that he doesn't remember (psst Michael you were hit by SyFy's cancel hammer it's lethal even to archangels), and been escorted to Heaven as you do, Michael has had to face the fact that his mission is over. And that's...not something he can do, because he's a higher spiritual being and everything happens for a reason, and being dead can't possibly mean that he has to suck it up and quit trying to solve reality. Nope. Not Michael. He has to find Lucifer, has to find an explanation, has to find out how this is part of God's plan and His Test, and where better to do that than in his brother's supposed domain?

That and, other than his twin brother Gabriel, he's quite possibly the guiltiest mopefest in all known history. Live it up in Heaven strumming his harp? After all the death he's caused? After all the misery he's inflicted? After failing to destroy Lucifer's body and allowing him a chance to resurrect? He deserves to be in Hell.

So he's packed up his bags, and his blades, and his awesome leather coat, and arranged for a transfer.

The Pitch: You know how shows about angels and crap either have the angels be dumbasses who have no understanding of pop culture or wicked up to date on OINTNB and flaunting it? Not Dominion. Of course that does have something to do with the fact that Gabriel opened a seal and collapsed Heaven, bringing a whole host of demonic lesser angels down to possess and murder humanity. It's sort of hard to care about keeping up with your favorite show when that happens. So Michael, who is awesome despite his disinterest in the latest happenings of Game of Thrones, fights on the side of humanity against his twin brother, who's lost it a bit after Dad left and turned all genocidal. He rescues a baby named Alex who is actually The Chosen One (they seriously call him that, even though it's so gimmicky), and helps humanity's survivors to build an enormous wall around part of Las Vegas, which in the wake of the Actual Apocalypse is renamed Vega. They create a creepy religion around the Chosen One, and the hope that he will help save humanity, but really lots of them believe that having an archangel fighting on their side is weird and suspicious and ex-televangelist preacher politicians like Giles from Buffy think they'd be better without him.

But Reg, why is Michael cool? Well other than his freaking awesome wings? and the fact that once upon a time he wore full Gladiator get up and had long curly hair. That counts, right? He's also a freaking awesome swordsman, and he has a legit harem, who come and have sublime orgies with him in his nest in the Stratosphere.

Michael exerts his authority without so much as raising his voice, which is why you know that when he does he means serious business. Formerly God's Sword, Michael obeyed his Father's every order, slaughtering humanity at his command. He slips. He cracks. He fails. He falters. He cheats. That's what awesome about Michael. He's not perfect. He's superhuman but he's not above human faults and failings, and when he makes a mistake he bears the guilt of that mistake. He's a monster in lots of ways, and he struggles to connect with his human charges. He doesn't hesitate to use violence to put his point across. He whips people. He murders them, and when Alex is acting up he kicks his ass to get him listening.

He's not all bad. He can be committed, loyal, even affectionate, especially with his siblings, but when it boils right down to it he doesn't take any shit from them, either.

Michael is badass, guys. He's no fluffy angel. He comes from a post-apocalyptic world and lives in Trash Vegas, but with crazy class based politics and killer angels. He fights. In the rain. Fucks in hay. And bathes naked in the ocean. What more do you want?

Setting Fit:

As explained above, Michael has just arrived in Hell after getting his transfer. He's not going to settle in, because that's a really human way of doing things, he's just going to throw himself straight into it. That means doing community service even though he doesn't have to, for example. He has no problem lording it up above the common people, so living in Little Eden will suit him just fine.

He will be hunting for Lucifer, and finding out that the only Lucifer there isn't his Lucifer. Since Lucifer in Dominion was never cast, this sort of makes it an endless hunt for something that he'll never find. Poor Michael. But that won't stop him trying to probe his way through Hell beaureacracy trying to find where this Hell's bossman is, pretty much exhaustively. Did I mention he never gives up on something once he sets his mind to it?

[ Michael was jostled in the street, bumped aside by a huge stony skinned demon with a baby stroller. If anything, the toddler in the stroller was even uglier than its...mother? Green and gnarley, it had thorns on its skin which stuck into its baby grow, at odd places and weird angles. Its slick black hair stuck down over its eyes--or maybe it didn't have any eyes at all, and its tiny little fingers looked like knotted wood, with eagle talons on the end. Michael would have paid it no attention at all, however, if the stroller hadn't been jammed into his ankles, almost knocking him off his feet.

Two days in Hell, and the archangel had decided that he disliked demons far more than he had ever disliked humanity. If humanity was rude, then demonkind was obnoxious.

"Mom" stepped around the stroller, briskly, and jammed her boulder fist into his throat, shoving him back a half step.
]

Where do you get off on touching my kid? Filthy angel scum. What, spent so long touching cherubs that you think you can pedo on my son?

[ Michael narrowed his eyes, not responding to the fist pressed against him. When he looked down, baby's slip black hair was a tiny little inferno, and its mouth was spread in a wicked, sharp toothed grin. ]

I did no such thing [ Michael answered, contemptuously glancing down to the hand pressed against him. ] Now remove your hand, or I will remove it for you.

[ "Mom" sneered at him, looking around at the other passing demons in the busy concourse. ]

You hear him? Mr. High and Mighty here thinks he can come down and give orders! He touches my baby and then he thinks he can tell me what to do.

You touch that kid? [ Another demon called. And another: ] Angels. We don't want their kind round here. [ And another: ] Let's take him back to Little Eden and throw him over the wall.

[ This situation was rapidly getting out of hand. It wouldn't be the first time, frankly, that Michael had found himself suddenly in a hostile crowd, surrounded by people who meant him ill, and were quite willing to set upon him. He'd always been willing to fight his way out of it, before, and, honestly, he was willing to fight his way out of it now, as well. Willing and able. But making these demons stitch themselves back together wouldn't endear them to him, and they would carry that resentment with them. Getting their asses handed to them by an angel? It rankled.

Moreover, Michael just didn't have the patience. He'd come here to shop, not to fight. He raised his chin, defiantly.
]

I warned you.

[ That, at least, he wouldn't back down from. A warning was a warning, and "Mom" still hadn't taken her meaty paw off him. So Michael, quick as a flash, cut it off. He tossed it into baby's stroller, and before the furious crowd could turn on him, opened his wings, spreading them wide enough to take off. As he leapt into the air, he watched baby bite off one of its mother's fingers, swallowing it down eagerly, while the angry crowd converged on the place where the archangel had just been, looked into the air and shouted and jeered at him. ]
